The World NEXT ends

I'm finally getting to play around with 8.5.2 (cd4), and it has a lot of things that I've posted IdeaJams about.

Recent IdeaJams.

You'll just have to take my word that I have not had a chance to even think about looking at this beta until last night (for the client), and the end of last week (for Traveler).

In no order:
+ Traveler 8.5.2 lets you initiate meetings from your iPhone (not just appointments).

+ Image:Wow. N/D 8.5.2 has a lot of nifty things  --> and it appears to be selected by default!

+ Multithreaded replicator. Or is it "sync-er"?

+ "Set current font as Mail Default".  Say no more? 10 years in coming. Does not apply to iNotes/webmail. PLEASE change that!

+ 8.5.1 Designer was usable, much much less slow than 8.5.   8.5.2 seems much much faster. Yes, I used "fast". Just don't open 8.0.2 or earlier to remind yourself.

+ Improved Lotusscript coding & debuging (Mr. Presnell covers this well.)

+ Full color application/database icons. (Mr. Head covers this well.) I have to admit, on my list of things to fix/features to add, this was down around page 500.

+ Better control of local replicas & ODS (Mr. Duke covers this well)

+ DAOS enhancements. (Mr. Krause covers this well).

+ Many more that I'm still finding.

One caveat:
Yesterday I tried upgrading from 8.5.1 to 8.5.2C4, and it cratered my install. I had to remove entirely and do clean install. Only then did I get to add my own Names.nsf, etc. back. This has happened to other folks as well when upgrading the standard client.

Q3, so I'd guess September. You know, the peak of hurricane season.

IBM Lotus Notes/Domino 8.5.2 CD4 is prerelease code and there are no guarantees from IBM that the functionality presented or discussed will be in the final shipping product. Use at your own risk. Your mileage may vary. I'm Craig Wiseman, and I approve this message..

Strange, I upgraded from 8.5.1 with FP2 to 8.5.2, no problem. Unfortunately, I then found that my employer wasn't allowing 8.5.2 as a valid Sametime client, so I had to downgrade.

@1 I should be clear: I wasn't talking about it being an ONLY 8.5.2 issue.

I meant many folks have seen issues upgrading the 8.x standard client.

It looks like a not-uncommon scenario - something breaks under the covers on the eclipse side of the house and it's just not fixable. So it becomes time to put out the lifeboats and start over.
