The World NEXT ends

A worthy read, particularly the comments:

IBM's reorg-from-Hell launches next week
IBM's big layoff-cum-reorganization called Project Chrome kicks-off next week when 26 percent of IBM employees will get calls from their managers followed by thick envelopes on their doorsteps.  By the end of February all 26 percent will be gone. I'm told this has been in the planning for months and I first heard about it back in November. This biggest reorganization in IBM history is going to be a nightmare for everyone and at first I expected it to be a failure for IBM management, too.
But then I thought further and I think I’ve figured it out…

Lovely.

Speaking of IBM, any chance that you are going to IBM ConnectED 2015 (Lotusphere) next week?

Would love to, but no... The were too many questions about what the conference would be offering when I had a window to decide.

I wish I could "like" your comment, Craig. It was the same conundrum for us.

"So, on faith, you tell me that this is the conference you want to attend? Where's the schedule, the topics, the sessions? Are they going to shove CCM or some other crap down your throat? No, you aren't going."

Well, I'm going. But you're right about the lack of details when a decision needed to be made. Swan going up to $300 a night didn't help.

When they finally provided details, the "preview tool" was a disaster.

It is a day shorter, which is fine by me. In the past, Thursday was always a step-child to M-W. For example, why does it being the last day mean you can pawn a box lunch off on me?

But if it is going to be the last one, I'm glad I'll be going.

Enjoy it for me, Tim! I will miss being there, but it is true that I've moved on technically from really caring about IBM. It's sad to watch IBM implode itself, but I'm glad to not be impacted in any significant way.

Now that Microsoft have finally replaced their bad egg, IBM is the biggest company with a complete lack of management. Unless they replace that upper management team, they're gone.
