As has been wisely noted, the silly election season is upon us. I'm not sure how to take the McCain/Obama thing going on over the debate. I just rec'd this email below, and it makes it seem like Obama initated the conversation yesterday with McCain, which is not my understanding.
OK, actually, I'm 100% sure: "we have to keep this campaign focused on the crucial issues." means "getting me (Obama) elected is far more crucial than some stupid economic problem."
See how different people can interpret a simple sentence?

Craig -- This morning Barack called John McCain to suggest a joint statement of principles that would help Congress resolve the immediate financial crisis. Then John McCain went on television and said he was suspending his campaign and that Friday's presidential debate should be postponed. Barack spoke about the crisis and took questions from reporters a few hours ago. He also made it clear that -- with only 40 days left for the American people to decide who will be responsible for leading our economic future -- it is more important than ever that the scheduled debate takes place. Please take a minute to watch the video of Barack's press conference and share it with your friends: This is an important time, and we have to keep this campaign focused on the crucial issues. Thank you, David David Plouffe Campaign Manager Obama for America |

Craig,
The real question is what are you doing get emails from this guy?
Well, I don't want to shock you, but I'm a registered Independent for a reason.
That's probably all I should reveal so you won't hate me too much!
I know you consider yourself an independent, so I'm surprised that you are on an email list for a party.
Ah, that.
Well, the John McCain posting ( { Link } ) yesterday came from my email as well.
Don't leave out Cynthia McKinney!
