University of Wisconsin Police: Krispy Kream Truck Police Chase

A man accused of stealing a Krispy Kreme truck and driving drunk appeared in court on Thursday.

Police say the donut truck reached speeds of 82 miles an hour on University Avenue.

Warren Whitelightning faces 7 charges stemming from the incident last Saturday morning.

That includes felonies for stealing the truck and fleeing an officer and misdemeanors for damage to property and 4th offense drunk driving.

According to the criminal complaint a Krispy Kreme truck was making a delivery at a convenience store on Old University Avenue at 3:00 in the morning.

When the driver was in the store Whitelightning allegedly stole the truck and led police on a high speed chase, at one point ramming a squad car and sending the officer to the hospital with minor injuries.

At times there were donuts spilling out the back of the open truck and Whitelightning twice drove back to the convenience store and did laps in the parking lot.

Whitelightning was also wanted on two bench warrants in Forest County or failing to appear in court.

The judge set his bond at $2,100.

If it had been a McKenzie's truck, he would have reached 150 MPH. And bail would have been set for $5 million.

Krispy Kreme's ain't worth the danger or bail.

Buttermilk drops are.

Indeed. Although at the moment, while I'm missin' buttermilk drops, I'm REALLY missin' the Christmas cookies and cupcakes.
