We don't get to the movies much, so that fact that I got to see two movies - in the theater - over the last couple of weeks is pretty astonishing.
The first one we saw was The Blind Side (with Sandra Bullock), and I have to admit - I had very low expectations. Ms. Bullock tends to make cute, light chick flicks. I was surprised at how good this movie turned out.
The movie is based on the book, The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game, which, in turn, is based on the real life experience of Michael Oher growing up in Memphis, TN. It's not a football movie, although football (of course) plays a role in the storyline - so don't let that keep you from seeing it. A certain knowledge of the SEC (South Eastern Conference) and it's coaches would also help your enjoyment. The movie also has some parts of it that seem almost Hallmark Channel-ish, but overall it's very much worth it. It has quite a bit of humor, a big heart, and (apparently) significant adherence to the Mr. Oher's true life story.
