This started out as a status on Facebook, and was picked up by Mr. Clio. I'd like to elaborate a bit on it.

The auto industry loves CARS, and who wouldn't? I can't think of any industry that would complain about the guvment giving loads of FREE money to it's customers.

Please take a step back and think about it for a minute. We're running record deficits, we've got boat loads of problems. And we're giving $3 Billion+ to folks who HAVE WORKING CARS?

I can think of a zillion things we could do better with that money. For instance, re-write the US Army Corp of Engineers' procedures so they will actually build levees to protect New Orleans & south Louisiana.

I don't want to tell some eight-year-old kid he's gotta sleep in the street because we want people to feel better about their *car*. Do *you* want to tell them that?
